Knightsville, SC - \A family facing adversity everyday is the victim of a crime once again. Carol Armstrong survived a brutal attack in 2002, six years later, her family set to move into a new home when vandals strike.
Carol Armstrong is confined to a wheelchair and this home is designed to make life easier for a family that's already battled tragedy.

She is a mother of two, a devoted wife, and a victim. Carol Armstrong can not move the left side of her body, she is also partially blind. Still, this woman continues to smile.

“I know things seem bad for me, but I have a good life. I really do and you put those things aside and I do have a good life, people would really be jealous of my life,” said Armstrong.

Her injuries are the result of an attack on July 4th 2002. While leaving her job in North Charleston, a stranger nearly beat her to death with a shovel.

“I could have been a lot worse off but I’m not and you have to be positive in this world, its too cruel,” said Armstrong.

The family's home now doesn't allow Carol the space to move around. They’re moving into a new home in Knightsville. A place built by community donations and the Charleston Trident Home Builders Association. One week ago, a thief broke into the garage and stole three wooden columns. The total loss only about four hundred dollars, but for the people invested in this family, this crime can not be forgiven.

“It may not of been a big money object, but its the fact that somebody did it on a project we spent so much time on,” said Phillip Ford of the Charleston Trident Home Builders Association.

Once the family settles into their new house, Armstrong will once again have the chance to raise her family. She can cook and clean, the little things she missed most. It’s her chance to get back to the life taken from her years ago.

A camera outside the home caught a picture of the suspects vehicle but did not get a shot of the actually thief. Construction will stay on schedule, and the family is set to move in on December 31st.
