Charleston, SC -
Shoppers flooded area stores by the car load today taking advantage of the great Black Friday sales. It's an after Thanksgiving tradition whether people like it or not.
“I am here because I got dragged into it, but its fun. It’s better than sitting at home,” said shopper Grey Grooms.
Fighting through the elements, they waited for hours for stores to open.
Spending during the Black Friday weekend is a strong indicator as to how holiday sales will go overall, so stores slash prices and open early to boost sales.
Tanger Outlets was among the earliest to open--starting at the stroke of midnight.Over at big box stores like, Wal-Mart and Best Buy, door buster sales had people waiting to get in.
“I really wanted the $60 GPS, but they ran out before I got here. But I did get a GPS,” said shopper Rolets Buckner.
Despite the recession, experts predict Black Friday weekend sales will increase over last year.
“Money being what it is right now, any discount or sale I could find, I was looking for it,” said Buckner.
The deals aren't just for the early risers. At Tanger Outlets, their sales run through Sunday.
