There's nothing like getting sick around the holidays. And with Thanksgiving just a few days away some families are doing what they can, to keep from getting and spreading the H1N1 virus.
Getting vaccinated is how folks at Interim Health Care are trying to keep from getting sick. But if you’re already not feeling well, you may need to cancel your holiday plans altogether.
Hundreds of people settled-in and rolled up there sleeves to get the H1N1 vaccine today in
“Thought I’d better be safe, I don’t want to go ahead and get the flu.”
Judy Kuznik didn't just get the vaccine for herself. She did it for her grandson so that she won’t be contagious when she sees him this Thanksgiving. Her concern is a valid one because as so many of us are on the move and traveling our germs can get a free pass, and be easily spread
“You’re always going to be at a higher risk when you’re around a lot of people. I mean that’s really the way its spreads from person to person,” says Dawn Costanzo.
The Department of Environmental Health and Conservation even urges people who don’t feel well to cancel travel plans altogether, and maybe wait until Christmas before rescheduling. A precaution these patients and parents appreciate.
“You never know what kind of kids you’re going to come across that might have something you don’t want to catch,” Robin White says.
Especially when it means keeping their children healthy and safe.
