Charleston, SC - A recent study shows Black Friday might be the best day of the year to buy a car, and some local dealerships are more than happy to play along.
Deep discounts and some dedicated shoppers all part of the Black Friday fun, but forget the door busters for a moment and think about buying a new car. Morris Nissan is adding extra staff to accommodate the expected rush.
“When someone pulls in on Black Friday the perception is they are coming to get a deal,” said Doug Abernathy, Sales Manager with Morris Nissan.
Those deals will be waiting, a survey shows the discount on cars peak on Black Friday. This year the new car discount on average is expected to be at seven and a half percent nationwide on Black Friday, just six percent the day before and after.
“Are we going to do any and everything to put a car deal together yes, if it takes an extra five hundred on the trade or a little bit shorter of a profit to make that car deal happen then that will be the day we will do it,” said Abernathy.
Experts don't expect cars to fly off the lots, but there is no doubt, people in the market for a new ride will capitalize on the chance to save.
“The early bird gets the worm because that’s what consumers expect, that’s what retailers including car dealerships have to offer,” said Anne Brumbaugh, Marketing professor at the College of Charleston.
Local car dealers don't expect to see a line of customers bright and early, at the same time, they hope Black Friday is the start to a strong finish to the end of the year.
Traditionally, local dealers say Black Friday is successful, but some are leery of this year, considering the state of the economy. Analysts say the larger Black Friday deals will be geared towards certain models, rather then the complete inventory on the lot.
