Charleston, SC - Police say they are investigating a store robbery and stolen car at a grocery store in Charleston Monday morning.
Charleston Police responded to the Kangaroo Express on 588 East Bay Street in reference to an armed robbery.
Authorities say they were told by a witness that two men had robbed the business and stolen her vehicle. According to the victim, the two suspects approached her vehicle as she was leaving the vehicle after she parked it in front of the Kangaroo Express near the ice machine.
She said the suspects told her not to scream and told her to enter the business and turn the alarm off. She then told the two that the store was open 24 hours and no alarm had been set.
The victim told authorities that the suspects told her that they had a weapon and to open the safe and register, which she did.
The suspects then asked for the keys to her car, a 2007 Red Pontiac G7, and the suspects then left the area in her car.
The victim and the employee that was already in the store, describe the first suspect as an older black male, 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10 in height, slim build, wearing a black in color jacket, brown in color work style boots and a camouflage face mask that covered the bottom half of his face.
The second suspect is described as a younger black male, 6-foot-3 to 6-foot-4, slim build, wearing a “Tupac” blue in color hooded sweat shirt (ghost image of Tupac on the back, black in color bandanna that covered the bottom half ofhis face.
The store district manager arrived on the scene and told police that $2500 was taken from the safe and the cash register.
