Charleston, SC - More tourists could make a stop in the Holy City thanks to a global tourism guide. Lonely Planet chose Charleston as one of the top cities in the world in its new book called The Best in Travel 2010.
The publication ranked Charleston as one of its top 10 cities worldwide.
In eating locally, the book says "You'd be hard-pressed to find an out-of-state pork chop or sweet potato these days at any of downtown Charleston's of-the-moment Nouvelle Southern restaurants. On Saturdays, the Mario Square farmers' market is all about fat homegrown tomatoes and glass quarts of raw milk from a dairy on nearby Wadmalaw Island."
Additionally Lonely Planet lists a number of popular festivals and events found throughout Charleston such as the Lowcountry Oyster Festival and the Charleston Food and Wine Festival.
The book is available through Lonely Planet at this link.
