Charleston, SC - Wednesday's World War Two Submarine Memorial Dedication Ceremony at Patriot's Point has been postponed due to anticipated inclement weather.
There will still be a “Converse with a Curator” series as it pertains to our new temporary exhibit showcasing World War I poster art. Patriots Point’s Curator of Collections, Melissa Buchanan, will show original World War I posters and discuss how the propaganda art was used to rally support.
On Saturday, we’re hosting an “Honor Landing” to honor ALL vets, but specifically those who were invited but weren’t able to go on the Honor Flight due to poor health or the inability to travel.
From 11 – 11:45, those veterans will gather aboard the Yorktown to meet, eat and swap stories with each other. At noon, any and all veterans and their families are invited to a brief ceremony in the Hangar Bay of the
USS Yorktown featuring veterans and family members of WWII, Vietnam and War on Terror Veterans like Major General and Medal of Honor recipient James E. Livingston.
Afterwards, some of our nation’s finest will be available to share stories and memories, as well as memorabilia, in the Hangar Bay from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m.
