Columbia, SC - Reports that South Carolina may get detainees when Guantanomo Bay is shut down has roiled the political debate in South Carolina's governor's race.
Republican U.S. Rep. Gresham Barrett has asked fellow candidates to sign a letter asking President Barack Obama

Republican candidates told Barrett they supported the idea but said Barrett needed to use his day job to keep detainees from landing at the Naval brig.
And Democrat Mullins McLeod told Barrett in a letter Wednesday that he should take his letter and shove it. He says all Americans need to help the war effort.
Obama campaigned on closing Guantanamo but there has been no official decision on where to transfer any prisoners.
