Charleston County -
The chances of getting hit by the swine flu are very real for Steven Kerr. His three children attend school in Mount Pleasant.
"We've become germ-o-phobes we wash our hands all the time and we've h ad several friends of our kids to get swine flu so its on our radar screen," he said.
To defend against the spread, The Charleston County School District will start vaccinating students for H1N1 as early as next week. They will be free and be given by consent only. Similar measures were by schools in Lexington County.
"It's good for parents it's something we would give our kids anyway," Kerr said.
The Swine Flu has already been confirmed in 1000s of people in South Carolina. Since September First, 20 deaths have been reported and more than 550 hospitalizations.
Still Libbie Thomson says while she supports the districts decision to offer vaccines she doesn't plan on having her children get them.
"I still think it's overblown out of proportion at this point," she said.
District officials expect the vaccines to be available by Friday November 13th.
