"I love cheap gas," said a trucker who just filled up his tank.
And so do a lot of folks who are causing a near traffic jam at the Kangaroo on Dorchester Road so they can
"I'm so excited," Deb Walter said, who found out about the cheap gas this morning.
"I got two phone calls from my children this morning telling me which gas station to go to that I could get it for $1.98. When I got here it was $1.95," she said.
And folks are driving long distances to get it.
I actually came all the way down from off of
Tasha Gardner drove over 20 miles from James Island to fill up her tank with two dollar gas at the Valero on Spruill Ave.
And folks are getting as much of it as they can. And they can see an obvious difference the cheap gas is making on their wallets. This man says just a few months ago he was filling up three times a week at $80 bucks a pop totaling over $240.
"I'm half of that about $130-140," he explained.
Gas was $2.01 just a day ago. Overnight it went to $1.95.
Corporate officials at Kangaroo say the price changes daily because the wholesale price of gas changes each day. and Kangaroo will also always price its gas lower than the competition.
Industry analysts say the falling gas prices could provide a quick boost for the struggling auto industry since at $4 a gallon, consumers were only interested in vehicles that got 30 miles to the gallon.
