"We work with three groups of people to ensure that these rides are safe. The first group is the state of South Carolina’s inspection system, the second being the carnival’s inspectors and the third is an independent inspector to look over these rides for us," said Joe Bolchoz, public relations chairman with the fair.
Each of the rides at the fair goes through a vigorous inspection process.
"The inspectors will look at the structural foundation, the electrical and hydraulic systems as they are going through the process," explained Clyde Wagner, president with Wagner Consulting Group Inc.
The fair will have plenty of personnel on hand if there are any injuries or emergencies.
"We use off duty Charleston County police deputies who are paid to be on the grounds, we have a fire department that actually has a fire truck on the ground in case of fire. Also, Trident health systems are here in case you have an injury or get ill," said Bolchoz.
