Downtown Charleston was a mess everywhere you turned. Dozens of streets flooded with water making it impossible for drivers to get through. The cross-town was backed up all evening. Charleston Fire and Police are asking people to stay away and not to drive into Charleston.
Streets around the cross-town were also taking on quite a bit of water. This is nothing new to the people living in this area. After hours of steady rain, streets like Rosemont, Bogard, and President Streets slowly became covered.
Owners of the Green grocery store on President Street have been dealing with this for years, water creeps up the steps and into the store, making a mess, destroying products and merchandise. Employers say the drainage simply not keeping up with rain.
Several people reported major flooding in Summerville and Goose Creek. One woman told us, it was impossible to leave her home.
