A woman is killed in an accident on I-95 southbound just south of exit 115 in Manning early Wednesday morning.
According to the Clarendon County Coroner's Office, Elizabeth A. Kozak, of Schenectady, NY was headed to Florida as the passenger in Thomas Hall's tractor trailer, when they collided with another tractor trailer in the right hand lane, running into the median and subsequently into the woods. Kozak was trapped when the truck erupted into flames. According to the coroner's initial report, Kozak died from smoke inhalation.
The truck driver, Thomas Hall, was able to get away from the accident safely, as well as his dog.
Both drivers were wearing their seat belts. Hall sustained minor injuries in the accident and was taken to Clarendon County Hospital for treatment.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is still investigating the cause of the accident.
