A water main break near Charleston National subdivision has resulted in a boil water advisory for areas of Mount Pleasant north of Highway 17. A contractor working on water lines hit a major water main which caused low pressure in affected areas. Workers have found the leak and are repairing it now. As a precaution, Mount Pleasant Waterworks has issued a boil water advisory for the following areas: Charleston National, Park West, Copahee, Darrell Creek, Commonwealth, Paradise Island, Whitehall Terrace, Alston Point, and surrounding areas. Mount Pleasant Waterworks continues to test the water supply and will repeal the advisory as soon as water is deemed safe to drink. Residents are welcome to go to one of two Reverse Osmosis facilities in Mount Pleasant to receive clean drinking water. Facilities are located on Seventh Avenue off of Mathis Ferry Road and Labor Camp Road off of Venning Road. If you choose to boil water, make sure to boil on high heat for 3-5 minutes. You may also pick up water purification tablets from many stores around the area. Our news staff will continue to monitor updates and keep you informed as soon as more information comes available.
