(AP) -- The grandmother of a man who shot three people in Sumter County told her he was molested by his grandfather and mother and frequently used drugs, including spraying marijuana with bug killer. A judge in Sumter is determining whether Stephen Bryant gets the death penalty. The Item of Sumter reports Bryant's attorneys began calling witnesses in his sentencing hearing yesterday. Bryant's probation agent testified he occasionally fell behind paying fees, but was otherwise not a problem. A psychiatrist says Bryant knows right from wrong, but was suffering from post traumatic stress syndrome and paranoia when he killed the victims.
