Charges are dropped against a teen accused of stabbing to death a 20-year-old in July.
James Island teenager Charles Dobson Jr. was accused of stabbing three people and killing one July 2, and now the charges of murder and two counts of battery with intent to kill have been dropped by the 9th Circuit Solicitor's Office.
The altercation occurred outside Dobson's home on James Island. His attorney said Dobson Jr. was defending his family from harm.
Dobson told a judge in July, "If people broke into your house and were harming your family what would you do?"
Robert Craig Massey Jr. was stabbed twice in the chest and later died at MUSC. Mary Hills and Travis Barrow were also injured in the incident.
The Charleston County Sheriff's Office said they felt they had enough evidence against Dobson to go forward, but the Solicitors office dropped the charges saying Dobson was acting in self defense.
