(AP) -- South Carolina's 5.4 billion dollars in Medicaid spending for 2007 is now available for review through an online database.
The Department of Health and Human Services put the searchable database on its Web site, www.scdhhs.org. which shows 25 million claims paid to nearly 30,000 health care providers.
Medicaid provides health coverage to about 800,000 poor and disabled residents.
The Post and Courier of Charleston reported that more than 843 million dollars went to in-patient hospital services.
Information is available by county, name of provider or type of provider, such as physician, dentist, nursing home and hospital.
