Home-grown rockers Hootie and the Blowfish are getting in on the give-a-way action.
“I think it’s just important to have an opportunity to get an education. All these school supplies and stuff. They’re getting a chance to make their education easier,” Hootie and the Blowfish front-man Darius Rucker says.
The supplies were delivered to Burke High School where students could come and pick up book-bags, notebooks, shoes and even get haircuts.
The event is a part of the band’s “Homegrown Tour” that started when the band learned that the education budget would be cut by three percent in South Carolina. The band held its big concert Friday night and asked concert goers to donate school supplies. They received enough to fill forty school buses.
