Authorities say two arrests may lead to clearing up the mystery of skeletal remains found in the trunk of a car, submerged in the waters near the Charleston Boat Landing. A tip led Charleston County Sheriff’s Deputies to make the gruesome discovery last month.
Police have arrested Jeffrey Herrmann and Jason Cumbee in connection with that crime. They say Herrmann shot the victim, Ala Hassan Sarhan back in 2000. Sarhan was an Iraqi native living in North Charleston. Authorities say Sarhan owed Herrmann a substantial amount of money for past drug deals.
Authorities say Herrmann shot Sarhan in the head and then Cumbee helped dispose of the body. Herrmann is charged with murder and Cumbee is charged with accessory after the fact of murder.
