The Charleston Police Department has released video surveillance footage from the July 14 armed robbery of the Kangaroo Express gas station on Old Towne Rd.
The store clerk said at approximately 4:40 a.m., two men walked into the store, one was waiving a handgun and demanded money. The clerk handed one of the one of the suspects $100 from the first cash register. The suspects then insisted the clerk open the second register, but the clerk could not get the register open. That's when according to the police report, the third suspect walked into the store and asked the clerk to open the safe. When the clerk told him he couldn't, the third suspect became angry and tried to force the safe open himself and also insisted the clerk open the second register. When he said he couldn't, the suspects fled the scene.
The suspects were last seen crossing Carriage Lane into the Plantation apartment complex where they disappeared halfway down the side of the middle building.
The first suspect is described as a white male, 5 feet 7 inches tall, approximately 160 pounds, wearing all black clothing and a purple ski mask. The second suspect is a black male, approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing 175 pounds, wearing black clothing, a dark beanie and dark sunglasses. The third suspect is a black male, 5 feet 5 inches tall, 145 pounds, wearing black clothing and a black ski mask.
