A Medical University of South Carolina security officer was charged with committing lewd acts on a minor Tuesday. The Charleston County Sheriff's Office arrested and charged Thales Newsome with two counts of committing a Lewd Act on a Minor.
According to the affadavit, Newsome committed the offenses on a 13-year-old at a residence on Johns Island. The two were apparently wrestling over a remote control. Newsome says his offense was an accident.
The Charleston County Sheriff's Office was contacted by the Charleston County Department of Social Services with an anonymous tip indicating there was evidence of lewd acts on a minor at the victims residence.
He is expected in bond court 6 p.m.
