Well known criminal defense attorney Reese Joye has died. One of his law partners says Joye was found dead in his Boston hotel room Sunday morning. Joye was in Boston for a trial advocacy conference at Harvard. The attorneys he was traveling with suspected something was wrong when Joye did not show up for breakfast. They believe he died of natural causes.
Joye founded the Joye Law Firm in 1968 and has been practicing law in South Carolina ever since. Joye was born in 1938 in Bennettsville, South Carolina. He graduated from the University of South Carolina and specialized in alcohol-related and personal injury cases.
Reese Joye is survived by his wife Jackie, three children and five grandchildren. He was 70 years old.
