When The Citadel decided to fully renovate the West Stands, the other side was completely neglected, until a couple of alumni came to the rescue. Hollywood resident Jim Maxon and several classmates banded together and bought supplies. They also rounded up manpower in a very odd place, the Charleston County Department of Corrections. Every day, 10 non-violent offenders from the Family Courts come to work, paint, fix and do whatever is necessary to get Johnson Hagood's East Side ready for August 30th.
