(AP) -- An 18-year-old man accused of killing a woman in the parking lot of a golf course in Dorchester County has pleaded guilty as he was about to go on trial. Circuit Judge Paul Burch sentenced Vincent Payton on Wednesday to 30 years in prison. The Post and Courier of Charleston reported Payton was present in the 2006 shooting death of 25-year-old Lisa Thompson. Authorities say Payton and 18-year-old Jonathan G. Coburn planned to rob Melvin Keith Bryant during a meeting in the golf course parking lot. Prosecutors say the robbery fell apart when gunfire started. Bryant was hit in the face and survived. Thompson was with Bryant and was killed. Coburn pleaded guilty earlier this week and was to be sentenced Thursday.
