Illegally cut trees on Sullivans Island have some neighbors angry. Authorities say someone cut 21 protected trees but they do not know who did it. At Tuesday's Town Council meeting the public got an opportunity to have their say. They want council to replace the trees and do a more thorough investigation into how this could have happened. A case of missing trees along the Sullivans Island coastline has some residents wondering. "The trees were cut illegally and we don't know who did it and we want to know who did that," Sullivans Island resident Norman Khouri says. The trees were behind three homes on Atlantic Avenue. Those homeowners say they did not know the trees were missing. "I've never cut a tree, illegally cut a tree or authorized any individual to cut a tree on my behalf," Nick Bluestein says. Bluestein is one of the homeowners in question. He wants town council to clear his name. The trees were twenty to thirty feet high and owned by the town. Homeowners are not allowed to touch them. Town council did not make any comments on what they plan to do. The town administrator would not comment because he says "doing so would be a conflict of interest." One of the homeowners, Gerald Kaynard, is a member of town council.
