Charleston, SC - Sherriff’s deputies arrest a man who is accused of shooting another man at a McClellanville gas station .
According to an affidavits released by the Charleston County Sherriff’s Department, Alonza Dennis, 44, of Charleston is being charged with assault and battery with intent to kill, armed robbery, and possession of a firearm during a violent crime.
The affidavits said Dennis shot Moses Alford three times, once in the back, again in his right forearm, and once in his right leg at the Kangaroo gas station on Highway 17 North in McClellanville.
Alford told deputies he had received a phone call from a person whose voice he recognized, the affidavits said.
Alford then made arrangements to meet the man at the gas station to sell clothing. When he arrived at the rear of the building an unknown man approached him and pointed a revolver at him, demanding he give up his money and clothing, the affidavits said.
As Alford tried to run away the unknown man shot him. Later Alford identified Dennis from a photo lineup, the affidavits said.
The victim told police he was shot when he attempted to run. Alford identified Dennis from a photo lineup, according to the affidavits.
Dennis is scheduled to appear at a bond hearing this afternoon.
