Officers with the Public Safety Department on Folly Beach say despite stepped up patrols they're still seeing cases of underage drinking.
"We continue on a frequent basis to run into cells of underage drinking on the beach and when we do we deal with that," said Chief Boatwright.
According to a recent report about 40 percent of kids who drink underage get their alcohol from an adult. Not surprising to 21-year-old Josh Hund, who admits to drinking prior to turning 21.
"When I didn't have a fake ID, I would just ask somebody that looked a little bit older," he said. "It's too easy for them to get alcohol," added Lou Osborne, a parent of an 18 year old.
The public safety department says it will continue cracking down on underage drinking. They're currently considering a beach patrol force which would add more officers to patrol the beach. The fine for underage drinking ranges from $500 to more than $1,000.
