Charleston County School District board member Brian Moody announced he would not be running for another term Monday. Moody also endorsed Chris Fraser to run for his position on the board.

Moody has decided not to run for a fourth term and will complete his term in November after twelve years serving as a board member.

“It was not an easy decision to not run for another term on the school board,” said Moody. “But I could not think of a better person to fill this position as Chris Fraser. His devotion to improving schools in our community is apparent from his tireless work as chair of The Education Foundation and his previous experience as a member of the District 2 Constituent Board, among many other efforts."

Fraser will be running for one of two seats open on the Charleston County School Board.

“I am very excited for this opportunity to run for a seat on the school board,” said Fraser. “There is no issue more important to our community and economy today, than improving the number and quality of graduates who enter the workforce. I have seen first hand the students in these schools and believe we need to create the best environment for these kids to grow and learn.”

Fraser is principal broker-in-charge of Grubb & Ellis | BarkleyFraser a commercial real estate firm. For the past two years he has served as chairman of The Education Foundation, an initiative of the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce that builds partnerships between the business community and the schools, mobilizes resources and advocates the changes necessary in to prepare all students for the careers of the future. During his term, Fraser helped convene local leaders in business and education, and help strengthen the relationships between the two to determine workforce needs and requirements.
