(AP) -- A brewery based in Winston-Salem plans to expand, both in production capacity and distribution and its plans include selling its beer in South Carolina.
The Winston-Salem Journal reported today that Foothills Brewing's $250,000 expansion will allow the company to produce about 6,000 barrels of beer this year. Last year, it sold just over 2,330 barrels.
Foothills self-distributes its draft beer in kegs to bars and restaurants in North Carolina.
It has suspended sales in South Carolina until it increases its capacity. The company hopes to start sales in eastern Tennessee and southern Virginia by June 2009.
