(AP) -- Heat advisories have been issued for central and eastern South Carolina as forecasters say temperatures could soar into the mid and upper 90s.
The National Weather Service (web|news) said humidity could make it feel like 105 degrees or hotter Thursday afternoon. The heat advisory covers most areas south of Aiken, Columbia and Chesterfield.
While it will be hot, forecasters said the temperatures shouldn't be record breaking in most areas.
The June 5 record high in Columbia is 104 degrees set in 1943.
Greenville's 100-degree record was set in 1985, and Charleston's June 5 record of 99 degrees was set in 1933.
Forecasters say high temperatures in South Carolina should remain in the mid to upper 90s through the weekend.
