North Charleston, SC - A car accident on Highway 78 last night, leaves two people dead. It happened just before 12:30 a.m. near Charleston Southern University. Highway patrol officers say a 50 year old woman was killed when a car slammed into her SUV. A passenger in that same vehicle was hurt, and is now in the hospital. The 28-year old man driving the car that hit them was taken to MUSC where he later died. Cpl. Brouthers of the Highway Patrol says the man hit the SUV as he was fleeing the scene of an incident the North Charleston police were responding to. Officers are continuing to investigate the cause of the accident this morning.
