The sounds of saws, paintbrushes and hammers filled the air today on James Island as volunteers with the Isabelle's House organization did a home makeover for Theresa Ravenell and her 7 children; all of whom had no idea it was happening. The project not only aimed to change the home, it also helped change lives.
"To have these people live a little nicer, a little better, more comfortable means everything to all of us," said volunteer Kevan-Ann Spangler.
Many of the items used inside the home were donated goods. Workers also fixed up floors, painted, and even created a vegetable garden.
"We're providing them with lots of love and care so they can hopefully move on," said Kimberly Lucia, Project Manager.
Crews said all of their hard work would pay off when they finally saw the reaction on the faces of the Ravenells.
