The Charleston Police Department is now calling an overnight shooting, a homicide, after the victim died from gunshot wounds.
The Charleston County Coroner identified the victim as 23-year-old Jesse Meyers of North Charleston. He was pronounced dead at MUSC.
Police responded to 6-J Lee Street around 9:30 p.m. in reference to a complaint of a shooting according to the incident report.
A male was lying face down on the edge of the bed in an upstairs bedroom. Blood was on the floor. The victim was still alive when police arrived, but was unable to tell the officer what happened or who had shot him.
