Habitat for Humanity homeowners could collect profits after their foreclosed homes are auctioned off.
Tuesday ABC News 4 told you about two of the non-profit groups in downtown Charleston whose homes were being auctioned off.
Both sold for more than the amount owed on the houses.
The foreclosures came after the two families abandoned their homes and mortgages about six months ago.
Each home sold for about $80,000 each, that's more than $10,000 over what was owed.
"If the bid is more than what we are due, that includes our attorney fees, the families are actually able to collect that amount, it actually goes to them," said Jeremy Browning, Habitat for Humanity Director.
Browning says they typically try to avoid foreclosures by working with the families and lowering their payments.
But he says in this case, the families just gave up.
