Deputies Arrest 37 People for Cockfighting

According to the Hampton County Sheriff’s Department, around 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 18 approximately 37 people were detained in the Early Branch area.
Several agencies participated in the operation, including the Hampton County Sheriff’s Office, the Hampton County Multi-Jurisdictional Drug Task Force, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, and the Department of Natural Resources.
Officers said they seized roosters that were housed in cages and wooden boxes.
Those arrested were taken to the Hampton County Detention Center.
