Mt. Pleasant,SC - The weather is getting warm and it’s time to enjoy the great outdoors and there’s a new place to go in Mt. Pleasant.

At the Shelmore Village outdoor market you can get a great meal, do some shopping and even call it home.

Shelmore Village, nestled between highway 17 and Mathis Ferry is a live work community.

“The live work community has been around for hundreds of years. King Street is the same concept,” Phyllis Arce, a Shelmore Village sales rep explained.

The 41 units feature 3 story town homes with commercial space on the first floor and living space upstairs. Desmond Garrity owns Crushed Fine Wines.

span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial">"If you are going to open a retail shop in Mt. Pleasant we can actually purchase the property. Doing that allows a lot of flexibility," Garrity said.

There are a variety of shops including a children’s shoe store, and a pet salon. The owners all live above their work.  The Bridge Run has a space for u to sign up. Tonight the village green is serving up a farmers market

"We decided to do this because we have such a great space. We really wanted to take advantage of it and its a great way for the community to come out in our area and buy local produce and its a cost effective way for them to eat healthy this summer,” Jennifer Causby who organized the event said.

You can buy tomato plants and fresh honey, great bread and much more.

The merchants at the Shelmore Village Outdoor Market are offering lots of specials.

Wednesday March 18 was the market's first day.

It will take place every Wednesday through the summer.  It closes at dark.
