Charleston, SC - The Penguin Planet exhibit at the South Carolina Aquarium opens to the public Saturday, March 21; however some second graders from Memminger Elementary got a sneak peak at the exhibit Wednesday, March 18.
“When the exhibit came up it was a perfect opportunity to get on board and allow these kids to see the penguins first hand,” Elizabeth Joyner, science lab teacher at Memminger Elementary said.
The group not only got to see the penguins up close and personal they also helped prepare their meal.
“It smells like a garbage can,” eight year old, Donald Vanderhorst, explained as he placed a vitamin in a fish that would later be fed to the penguins.
They also put their best foot forward as they tried to carry eggs on their feet like Penguins
“I’m waddling because a penguin waddles,” eight year old Danaija Duncan said.
Waddle the Penguin, the mascot of the exhibit, made a cameo appearance, bringing more smiles to the students.
If you want to waddle over and check the penguins out, the exhibit opens to the public this Saturday morning at 9 a.m..
