A routine traffic stop in North Charleston leads to the arrest of a Goose Creek man with over seven pounds of marijuana worth $35,000.00. Stuart D. Whitney, 30, has been charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana.
Late Thursday morning, an officer on proactive patrol initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Whitney near Dorchester Road and Michigan Avenue. The officer smelled an overwhelming odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. At that time Whitney allegedly confessed to the officer that he was in possession of marijuana. More than 7 pounds of marijuana was located in the back floor board of the vehicle.
Whitney was taken in to custody. He is expected to appear before a bond judge on Friday.
