It is the fuel of the future and Lowcountry drivers are saying fill her up! The BP station on College Park Road sells biodiesel.
It's a sign of the times. Gas prices on the up and up. Now there's a new sign that's getting attention, advertising that biodiesel fuel is sold at the BP on College Park Road and lots of folks are asking about it. "We're getting more vehicles now lately. They're coming in and asking if that will work. It's 5 percent so I've probably had five or six cars just today," said Sherry Shader, the manager at the BP.
Biodiesel cost a little more than regular diesel but it all adds up.
"It's cheaper in the long run. Get more gas mileage," according to Shader.
Tim Cortte using biodiesel at his construction company where he has trucks, bobcats and various small equipment. He says it's no different from regular diesel.
"Operationally the vehicles work the same. I'm just as impressed with one or the other. I mean if it's biodiesel I know that our company wants to be good for the environment," Cortte said.
BP gets its biodiesel from a local distributor that gets it from a home grown company.

The BP on College Park is the only gas station in this part of the state that sells biodiesel.
Biodiesel is biodegradable, non toxic, domestically produced and requires no special handling.
