Traffic Fatality On Longpoint Rd.

A traffic accident on Longpoint Rd. killed one man and sent another to the hospital with injuries. The Mount Pleasant Police Department says the victim, 21-year-old George Elizondo, was driving a Gold Nissan Maxima on Longpoint Rd. through the intersection of Egypt Rd. southbound toward I 526 when he lost control and hit the curb, and continued traveling until he hit a pole and then a tree. His car rolled several times, ejecting him from the vehicle.
Charleston EMS confirmed the passenger was taken to MUSC with head injuries.
Longpoint Rd. was shut down for several hours early Thursday morning due to this accident.
