A Berkeley County family remains behind bars Tuesday night, their bonds totaling more than $600,000, after Berkeley County investigators dismantled a full blown meth lab and confiscated enough materials in a second home that could have been used to make another.

Husband and wife Bill and Amy Hutto each faced six charges, four of them for child endangerment. Their brother, Josh Hutto, faces three charges including possession of meth with intent to distribute near a school.

All it took was a tip and as deputies responded to a Goose Creek home, they knew exactly what was going on inside.

ABC News 4 myTAKE - What's Your Opinion?"The deputies could feel the effects of the gas from the drug in the home," said Blair Jennings, spokesman for the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office.

Which means so too could the four children, all under 12 years of age, that lived inside.

Neighbor Bill Palmer says he's also concerned for the other neighborhood kids that dropped by.

"A lot of young kids have been up there when the parents weren't home and this would make me think parents should keep a close look at where their kids are spending their time after school," said Palmer.

Inside investigators broke down a full blown lab used to manufacture meth. They also confiscated four ounces of the drug and found information which sent them searching the couple's brother's home in Summerville. His property sits less than 50 yards from a church and school. Detectives say they found a quantity of materials used to make meth, all while neighbors had no idea.

"I think it's the 'it's not going to happen in my back yard kind of attitude' and so people don't watch like they should," said another concerned neighbor Mike Fischer.

Berkeley County officials say they have already had more than half the total number of busts they had in all of last year. Investigators say that doesn't necessarily mean the problem is growing, but instead that the sheriff's departments aggressive efforts are working.
