Former House of representatives member, Robert Barber, endorsed U.S. Senator Barack Obama Tuesday, saying Obama can make change happen in Washington while uniting the American people. "Senator Obama has shown that he's the candidate who can deliver change we can believe in, put an end to politics as usual and bring Democrats, Republicans and Independents together to win in November 2008," Barber said. "We have to turn the page on the divisive politics of the past if we're going to see progress on the critical issues that face us as a nation."

Barber who ran for Lieutenant Governor in the state of South Carolina in 2006, has worked to improve the lives of South Carolinians by promoting conservation, and protecting public health and seniors. He owns Bowen's Island Seafood Restaurant and serves as an advisor to several South Carolina non-profit groups.
