Some of the most fun I have doing Lowcountry Live is all the wonderful special events I get to attend. From Pet Helpers Fur Ball to the Darkness to Light Gala, some of these events can be pretty snazzy leaving me lost at what to wear. Many of us women have issues with finding the right dress, leaving us standing alone in a women's boutique ready to give up. I'm not much of a shopper, maybe it's the overwhelming amount of choices or the whole three way mirror I'm afraid of, but I just don't like to shop. If you saw me on a regular day, I'm most likely wearing a black v-neck t-shirt and jeans (or shorts) with a pair of Reef flip flops. So one of my friends, who is an avid shopper and fashion expert,  has taken me under her wing to get me ready for a black tie event I have to attend soon. Usually, i would quickly drive to a store, find something black, and buy it. But my friend, Alex, has decided she's not going to let me fall into that trap anymore (are you scared yet? I was)

 

She arrived today with three dresses she purchased online= yes online! I'm not one to buy dresses online because you never know what you're going to get, especially when your figure it's a little more curvy ...but I let Alex do her thing and I can say I was pleasantly surprised. The first dress was a dark teal off the shoulder dress, the second was a lime green dress with embellishments and the final one was a black one (to appease my black clothing issues I'm sure).  And believe it or not, we found a winner.....the off the shoulder! I was shocked, I was a little skeptical that Alex could actually find something for me that flattered my figure and wasn't black--and she did it in less than a week. To find a dress like this, it would have taken me a year. And believe it or not,  we have another winner -- I also loved the lime green dress for future events. So the only one I didn't like....you guessed it (by elimination of course) is the black dress and I've never met a black dress I didn't love!! 

 

I'm thrilled to wear the dress and am actually looking forward to the event now. 

 

Alex gave me the confidence I needed to try something that was out of my comfort zone, was I a little nervous? You betcha. But letting someone else help me realize my potential wasn't too bad...sometimes we all just need to give someone else the reigns..... because it could make us the belle of the ball.
