Running doesn't always have to be miserable...trust me, I have tried and tried to run but have never seem to catch on. I am always envious of the ladies I see who breeze by me without breaking a sweat or panting like a large dog. So, I have decided that walking is my "pseudo" running - I clip on my pedometer, lace up my shoes and hit the pavement. I strive for 10,000 steps a day...some days I get there..other days I don't.  I have done many 5K's and 10k's in my life and marvel at those who cross that finish line at astounding times, and although I know I'll never be one of them, I'm not bothered by that. I am just happy to be participating.

And speaking of participating, this Saturday, Pet Helpers is hosting a special 5K Run in honor of Leslie Leigh McCravy. Leslie was a vibrant, beautiful woman whose life unexpectedly ended on July 15, 2007. She had a big heart and loving demeanor that will never be forgotten. Leslie loved animals and in her honor, proceeds from the race will benefit Pet Helpers, a nonprofit organization that provides a safe, loving environment for stray and unwanted animals until they are adopted. Where:  Start and finish by the Edwin S. Taylor Fishing Pier, Folly Beach

When:  Saturday, June 6th, 2009 8:00 a.m.

Cost: Early - $30.00 after June 1st includes t-shirt while supplies last.

Early Packet Pick-up: Friday, June 5th, 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Pet Helpers James Island

Late Registration/Packet Pick up:  6:45 a.m. - 7:45 a.m. Race Day at Start line
