Charleston International Film Festival

Only in it's second year, the Charleston International Film Festival is all the buzz among up and coming filmmakers. Happening at the Terrace Theater on James Island, this festival showcases both short and feature films from all sorts of genres. It's a great way for folks to get a glimpse at the future of movies and you may even meet the future Steven Spielberg!

The concept was dreamed up by someone I've known since we were geeky fourteen year olds in Summerville. Brian Peacher and co-founder Summer Spooner realized the need to bring attention to Charleston and all the creativity right here in the Southeast, so they started planning...all the way from LA! Last year was the first year and it was a hit! This year, they received over 500 submissions and narrowed it down to only 60--- that's a lot of screenings! Both Brian and Summer seemed to not take anything for granted at the festival, even though it may have felt like a dream. Now that it's the second time around, they are smoothing out the kinks and realizing what works and what doesn't (like every event!). The Terrace is the perfect spot because its local feel brings out the best in everyone, not to mention you can enjoy great beverages and food there as well.

I hope you get the chance to check out the festival which runs until Sunday, April 26. For more, log onto their website, www.charlestoniff.com

And once again, congrats to our local boy Brian Peacher-- it's great that no matter where he is, his heart will always be in the Lowcountry.
