Are you ready for some football?

The air in the lowcountry is getting cooler...well, let's say not so blazing hot...and there are smiles on everyone's face. It's football season!  The Gamecocks kick off the season against NC State and I'm crossing my fingers for a win. Since I went to College of Charleston where there isn't a football team, I've always pulled for USC. My dad is a big Clemson fan and we like to banter back and forth over the season...it makes things interesting. Recently, I stopped by Bobby Hartin's Sports Bar in West Ashley for a pre-football celebration and it was packed with Gamecock fans with a sprinkle of Clemson fans mixed in. Bobby Hartin is one of my favorite people and even though Darren is no longer on Fan Talk on 910am weekdays during drivetime, I STILL listen to him almost every day.  There's something to be said for a former cheerleader (yes, I said cheerleader) bringing folks together in a local restaurant to cheer on their alma maters.  So if you're searching for a place to get rowdy and eat some wings, head over to Bobby's..just be prepared to get a little hazing from others that don't like your team, it's all in good fun. And ask for Colleen, she's one of the nicest bartenders in town! Another gamecock fan & our new morning anchor, Erin Colgan, is already singing the fight song around the newsroom- what a hoot!!

Football is also kicking off this weekend for the Citadel Bulldogs. As the wife of the Voice of the Citadel Bulldogs, I am definitely biased towards them and have no problem admitting it. After their fantastic basketball season, I'm hoping their football team will rock too! Darren has worked long hours prepping for this season and he's even taken the Citadel Sports Network to the next level...the internet. He'll be twittering and blogging from each game for the brand new website www.thecitadelsportsnetwork.com....and I must say I'm a little jealous, the Citadel fans will get to chat with him more than I will--ha!! He's already posting interviews with the coaches and players, so needless to say, he's been pretty busy. But the best part about it all is to see how he lights up when he talks about the guys and his utter enjoyment and love of the game... it makes me so happy to see him like this.  (Mushy I know!)

So no matter your team, have fun & be safe this football season....cheers!
